St. Matt's Golf Tournament - Friday, October 16, 2020

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a scramble format?
A. A scramble is usually played in 4-person teams. In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot and so on until the hole is completed.

Q. How good a golfer do I have to be?
A. Golfers of all levels are welcome. Because we utilize the scramble format, you don’t have to have a low handicap to contribute. Playing from the best ball makes the day fun and manageable for everybody.

Q. What if I don’t know anyone who is playing?
A. We will be happy to pair you with other golfers. This tournament is a great way to meet other parents and supporters of St. Matt’s.

Q. Can women play?
A. Yes! We encourage participation from all supporters of St. Matt’s, and are thrilled to have women participate in all aspects of the tournament.

Q. I am not a golfer. How can I participate?
A. Volunteering your time the day of the tournament is a great way to participate. We need assistance in setting up the banquet room, registration, hole chaperones, and more. You can also donate any goods or services to our raffle, and/or silent auction. See "Be a Sponsor".

Q. Can I bring a guest to the banquet dinner?
A. Yes! Poplar Creek provides a delicious buffet dinner. See "Registration".

Q. What does the money raised go toward?
A. This year, the money raised by the Golf Tournament Fundraiser Event will go towards purchasing an additional new updated play structure for the school yard.

Q. When do I need to arrive the day of the tournament?
A. We suggest that you arrive at 11:00am. This will give you time to register, meet up with other players and enjoy lunch on the patio before we begin play.
